Chickweed C/S, also known as Herbal Slim and Starweed.
This herb contains saponins, which have been proven to exert an anti-inflammatory action very much like the workings of cortisone. Herbalists recommend this herb in topical form as an excellent alternative to cortisone creams because it’s claimed to be milder in action and doesn’t hold the side effects that cortisone does.
Internal uses are soothing of sore throats and lungs, as well as weight loss, hence its commonly given name Herbal Slim.
To make a “tea” from these dried leaves, simply infuse in water or oil. For water, add 2 tsp. of the herb to one cup boiling water and steep for 3-5 minutes. Drink, or strain off the juice, and use it to replace your water content in healing lotions, medicinal sprays, or salves. To extract in oil, place the herb directly in the oil and allow to sit for a minimum of 30 days, stirring once a day. Strain well.
