In India, the leaves from the neem tree are prized for their healing benefits. They are used in dental hygiene, and due to their antibacterial and antiviral properties, the leaves are incorporated into many skin care recipes for issues such as acne, eczema, ringworm, and skin infections. Neem products are also used in the battle against the bugs as it makes a useful bug deterrent in the garden as well as inside the home. One downfall with this product is it tastes pretty bad, so if you intend to use it in mouthwash, you’ll need to blend it with other herbs or create a sweet base that is tooth safe.
Try using these leaves to color cold process soap a light green! To use this way, simply infuse 2 teaspoons of Neem Leaf C/S into 1/4 cup oil and steep. When the color has bled out, strain off the herb and add the colored oil back to your soap pot. For a stronger color, add more neem leaves or grind them in a blender, or even better, we do sell the powdered version of this leaf.
I use this neem in my shampoo bars … its excellent for dry scalp!
