The yarrow flower has long been used in natural medicine for its anti-inflammatory and skin healing benefits. The leaves were once wrapped around ankle sprains to reduce swelling. The “juice” from fresh yarrow plants can be squeezed into small cuts and abrasions to help assist with healing. Yarrow is also an analgesic and antiseptic, so that it stops bleeding, lessens pain, and helps to prevent infections.
To glean the healing benefits of Yarrow Leaf C/S you can steep them in warm water or oil until extracted. Strain, and use the tea or oil portion in your recipe, tossing the used plant material.
