If the term “Vanilla Fragrance, Nature Identical Ingredients” is confusing to you, we understand! How can something man-made, be identical to nature? Technically they can be. If you consider the vitamin industry, these are typically man-made products designed to replicate the vitamins found in naturally grown food.
For the cosmetic industry, a new branch of man-made products are being introduced called ‘natural identical’ oils. According to the manufacture of this vanilla oil, it is a blend of, “natural and natural identical ingredients which are compounded to create the true scent of vanilla at a fraction of the cost.” This means the scent is achieved by mixing pure EO’s with other aromatic compounds. If you are a purist who uses only EO’s, this product wouldn’t be your go-to scenting oil. If you currently use “fragrance oils,” this scent blend would be a step in the more natural direction.
Typically I can smell the alcohol-y notes within a true vanilla absolute. However, since this ‘Vanilla Fragrance, Nature Identical Ingredients’ isn’t an absolute, it’s only sweet, smooth vanilla smelling.

This is a proprietary blend of scents, please do not ask for the formulation. The FDA ruling on fragrance and essential oils within cosmetics is that they need only be listed on an ingredient panel as “fragrance oil” to protect the manufacture’s formulation.
