Witch hazel has to be one of the most marketed herbs of all time, and with good reason, it’s quite amazing! Many people use its extract for acne, sitz bath for hemorrhoids, and other inflamed body parts. Witch hazel works wonderfully for under eye compresses, poison oak/ivy relief, sunburns, bug bites, itchy dry skin, oh the list goes on and on!
The leaf tends to be less concentrated in strength than the bark. Generally, the bark is used topically, whereas the witch hazel leaf works for internal and external uses. For internal benefits, it helps with diarrhea issues. Because of this unique benefit, it should only be used for a couple of days max. Always seek a medical professional before giving to children.
To use: infuse the Witch Hazel Leaf C/S into water. Steep for 10 minutes, then strain. Use the retained witch hazel water in your healing salve or lotion recipes.
