Derived from a natural mint source and not chemically produced … these Menthol Crystals, Natural can be used to make cooling salves, shampoos, conditioners, shaving creams, or my favorite — back liniments.
Through the years, I’ve picked up a few unique uses for these crystals from customers. One person would put one crystal in a sauna room – they claimed it opened their pores and their nasal passages and made them feel refreshed. Use caution: one crystal was highly potent.
Another person uses this product very similarly, just on a smaller scale. To a small bowl of hot water, you can add a tiny crystal chunk – cover your head with a towel and breathe in the fumes, especially nice during cold season!
This product acts as a local anesthetic and will add to your finished product that “cool” feeling when applied to the skin. Mixes well with camphor crystals, clove oil, black pepper oil, and wintergreen & many other essential oils and are soluble in oil. Will melt in hot water.
Use at a rate of 3% or less in cosmetic recipes. Safe to be used in mouthcare formulations, designed to be expelled (not for internal use).
